First Impressions
My training group is a collection of 24 people from a vast array of places sprawling the U.S. We're all like-minded, idealistic, eager, and smiling. For now.
6 of us met up for- what else?- fried food and beer as we talked about the many places we call home. The consensus is that we are all feeling surreal in this place of in-between. We have all said goodbye to our loved ones, and yet Micronesia still feels out of reach. Tonight we sorted out Peace Corps paperwork, passports, and other minutiae. The really fun stuff starts tomorrow at 8 am sharp. Workshops covering everything from history of the Peace Corps to goal-setting and 'What to Expect' will be attended by all. The best part is that tomorrow is when we have to step up our professionalism game. Let me quote, verbatim, "You guys are unique in that you're pretty much the only Staging group allowed to wear flip flops. But, if you have something a bit more fancy, wear that. Like Chacos." Let's recap...

I think I've found my people. Time for me to get some rest. Next update coming to ya from Micronesia!
